LENTEN SEASON PREVIEW
February 22nd thru March 31st
During the Season of Lent this year
we are trying something new and different!
As part of our Lenten journey
we would like to transform our church undercroft into
a display of Lenten art,
created by members and friends of Redeemer.
Diane Jacobson (Redeemer member and Old Testament scholar)
has written a new book Book of Faith Lenten Journey,
a series of reflections and devotions for the 40 days of Lent,
with daily themes from scripture.
This book will be made available for purchase,
for members to use at home and in study.
We would like to invite individuals also to create artwork
(photographs, drawings, poetry, or any other medium)
to illustrate the themes for each of the 40 days of Lent.
Paul Jacobson will coordinate this Lenten art project.
Watch for more information this month.

ASH WEDNESDAY
Wednesday, February 22nd
at 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
We begin this season of repentance and renewal
with the Imposition of Ashes and Holy Communion.
Please join us for this traditional rite
which symbolizes penitence and mourning
as we reflect on our human condition of brokenness and sin.
Though fasting is not an “obligation” or expectation
in the Lutheran Church, fasting for a day
(or from sunup to sundown)
can be a helpful spiritual practice,
making us more aware of
God’s gift of food to nourish our bodies.
Whether you fast or not, worship, prayer,
repentance and almsgiving are
Christian disciplines that help us to live out our lives
of faith day to day
